little love notes

With no thanks to my allergies, I am feeling absolutely awful.  In an effort to accomplish something today, I sat down to go through a stack of recipes that had been dwelling on the counter for, I'm ashamed to say, quite some time.  In all of my stuffy-headed misery, I had to smile when I came across this..

Which then led me to think of a little something I'd found earlier this week.  I was at Bible study and someone commented that it was hard to believe we ladies had been meeting for almost a year now.  So, I went back through my journal and found this on the very first page where our "homework" assignment was...

On rough days, I'm thankful for the small things.

Today, it's a smile, courtesy of my sweet blue-eyed boy.

engulfed

I was feeling out of sync.
I missed church due to sick babes.

I felt overwhelmed by upcoming events and responsibilites that I have taken on.
Events that are racing towards me at the speed of light.
And there is absolutely nothing I can do to slow the clock.

I feel over-stimulated.
Because I was sick of looking at these four walls,
so I took to working on birthday stuff in the great outdoors.
I'm thankful for accomplishments and forward progress.

Now, I'm feeling completely frazzled.
I'm enthusiastic about our upcoming events,
there's just a lot of planning, crafting and baking that needs to happen.

First up,
Tuesday.
(Sisters = friends) + food + campfire + God.

mama wolf

We were out doing yard work today.
C, sewing grass seed in a place I hope to be our very own outdoor mecca.
I, weeding and harvesting seeds from my herb garden for next year.
Then, we were working together in the little raised bed when he spotted this...

~ A mama wolf spider, carrying her multitude of newly hatched babes. ~

She looks sweet, even for a spider.

Yes, I cleaned my lens.  It is now free of smudges ;)  Hence the - ugh! - entire bottom half of the photo!

surprise, surprise!

Grandma loves peanut butter.

So I found this recipe.

It seemed relatively easy.

Sounded tasty.

So, I'm surprising her today.

It's not her birthay,
although that's coming up.

It's just a "I was thinking of you" pie.

Looks yummy, yes?

I got a little wild with the peanut butter there at the end.

the view from here

As I sit here at my desk, which is normally cluttered and messy, with papers strewn here, there, and everywhere, I cannot love the view more.  My mother, God bless her, gets a cake every year for my birthday - my favorite, no one else here will touch it.  Once in a while, the man will take a bite, but it is solely mine and today, that just tickles me pink.

That, and the fact that there are some special events coming up soon and I'm so excited to do some inviting that I can't stand myself.  I'm praying about this.  Praying it'll all come through and that it'll be a blessing.  ~ Keeping my fingers crossed ~

up in arms

Soccer was supposed to be yesterday,
but was rescheduled due to the hurricane.
Which, thanks be to God,
only brought some steady rain and wind,
nothing serious.

It was utterly brutal.

She was livid.

You could tell the way she sulked off the field.

This one ~especially in b&w form~ speaks.
Fury.
Fire.
Disappointment.
Bitterness.
Pain.
Outrage.

thirty-two

While it lay heavy-laden with dew.
I stood staring,
astonished and unmoving.
Sheer splendor.

Today is my birthday.
So, I decided to come out from behind the camera.

I didn't get all dolled up.
No cute outfit,
no makeup.
I showered.
In preparation of taking the munchkins to school.

I was busy.
Washing clothes, filling the dishwasher.
A mother's chores never end.

So, even though I hate having my picture taken.
I took a few.
In honor of my day.
